Coach and players

 

Our experienced baseball coaching staff is here to support player growth on and off the field, while fostering a strong sense of community and teamwork.


Coach Garza graduated from Plainview High School in Plainview, Texas in 2003. He furthered his career at Wayland Baptist University where he played four years as an outfielder for the Pioneers and earned his degree in Kinesiology. Coach Garza began his coaching career in 2012 at Western Hills High School as a varsity assistant. He then had the unique experience of helping build Benbrook High School’s very first varsity baseball program as the varsity assistant. In three short years, Benbrook was state ranked two of the three years as a varsity program. In his last year at Benbrook, the team finished as Regional Finalists with a final record of 28-7 finishing as the number eight team in state class 4A.

 

Coach Garza was also very fortunate to be on staff for Coppell’s 2021 and 2022 Regional Quarterfinal Championship teams. This will be Coach Garza’s seventh year at Coppell where he teaches PE. He is married and has two sons.  

 

Coach Johnson

 

Coach Johnson played High School baseball at Mesquite High School and lettered all four years; he was All State his senior year in 2007 and subsequently received a baseball scholarship to the University of Oklahoma, playing there all four years. His team played in the College World Series in 2010 which was the last group to play at Rosenblatt Stadium.

 

Coach Johnson made the All Big12 second team as an outfielder in 2011 and played one year of independent ball before deciding to hang it up and start coaching. He had his first teaching/coaching gig from Rice HS, a small 3A in 2015 and was there for two years before deciding to make the move to Irving Nimitz HS where he coached from 2017-2023, prior to coming to Coppell.

 

He and his wife met while at The University of Oklahoma. She graduated from Coppell High School and is a teacher in the district. They have one son.

 

Coach Moulder

 

Coach Moulder is starting his fourth year as a coach for Coppell baseball and his eighth year of coaching overall. He is a native of Arlington, TX where he attended Martin High School. He is a 2017 graduate of Sul Ross State University. Previously, he has coached in Wichita Falls at Hirschi High School, Tyler Legacy High School and Pecos High School.

 

Coach Kennard

 

Coach Kennard is entering his first year at Coppell. He graduated from King High School in Corpus Christi, where he played both baseball and football. He continued his baseball career at Brown Mackie Junior College in Salina, Kansas, and later at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  He has worked in education and coaching for 17 years.

 

He and his wife Crystal have celebrated 31 years together, and have four children. His previous stints as a coach have been at Irving Nimitz High School, Cuero High School, Corpus Christi Carroll High School and Carrollton Creekview High School.
